About SPHS Booster Club
The South Pasadena High School Booster Club was founded in the early 1960s to help raise money to support extracurricular programs. As the city's only high school, and as one of the oldest public high schools in Los Angeles County, SPHS has been a center of community pride since 1904.
A non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, Tiger Boosters is run by a 16-member volunteer board of directors. Relying on memberships and its popular Saturday night Bingo game, the Booster Club raises approximately $200,000 each year - money that goes directly to support the high school's 20 sports programs for boys and girls and all student clubs as well as other activities, including science, music, theater, journalism, pep, and Grad Night programs.
Recently, Booster Club funds have supported major capital projects, including renovation of the football, baseball, and track & field facilities; it now supplies half of the transportation budget for field trips and music competitions as well as athletic events. The Booster Club also funds five annual scholarships for graduating seniors.
